How to Create stamps with a few easy steps

Stamps are a great way to personalize your letters, stationery, and other office-based items. For example, you can stamp a company’s name or logo on your paper so that future correspondence will feature this image instead of just a standard letterhead. Creating stamps is accessible from an administrative and creative standpoint, and it’s essentially stamping in 3-D using traditional letterpress printing techniques. The best part: Stamps don’t require any special equipment or software, making them a great DIY project for anyone who wants to give it a try. Here’s how to create your very own Timbri with minimal effort:

Define your stamp material requirements

To create a stamp, you’ll need a few materials. The most important one is probably your handwriting. This is what you’ll use to create your seal. The rest can be made from scratch or found online. You’ll also need a stamp that features your images or words. There are many different symbols, so pick the one that best matches your creative interests.

Pick a postal stamp.

If you want to create personalized Timbri with a specific theme, you’ll want to use a postal stamp. There are many different types of stamps in this genre, so choose one that best represents your company or organization. For example, if you operate a wedding service, you can create a wedding stamp with the bride’s name across the front. Or, if you operate an after-school program for underprivileged children, you can create a child development stamp with the word “role” across the front.

Determine how you’ll use your stamps

Once you’ve chosen which stamp type you want to use, the next step is to decide how you’ll use them. This is the most important part of the process. If you choose to use your stamps for whatever random thing you happen to do, you’ll probably end up with poorly-shaped and poorly-applied Timbri that look nothing like the image you intended.

Create your stencil

Next, you’ll want to pick a design you like and find a free image that looks similar to your chosen stamp type. You can search online for free photos or look in the most used categories in Google Images. Next, you’ll want to measure the dimensions of your chosen image and create a template by cutting out the image, then adhering it to the stencil with adhesive tape.

Print and cut out your stamps.

The final step is to print your stamped image and cut out the corresponding stamp. If you printed your idea on paper, you can cut it out and then stick it on a piece of scrap paper to act as your stamp. If you printed your image on a piece of glossy, high-quality material such as a passport cover, you could apply a UV shield to protect your idea against sun damage. This will make the stamp last longer without wearing off.

Attach backing to hold your printout in place

If you’re stamping a letter or a postcard, you’ll want to put the stamp on the inside of the envelope. However, if you’re stamping a note or an email, you’ll want to put it on the outside. First, mark the outside of the envelope where you want to place the stamp, then use a ruler to draw a line down the middle of the stamp. From here, measure the distance from the line to get the appropriate measurement.

Enjoy!

Now that you’ve created your 3-D stamps, it’s time to play around with them and see what creative uses they have. You can stick your stamps in bottles, tins, portfolios, and other decorative objects to add a 3-D touch to your designs. You can also give your logos a 3-D embossing or a 3-D finish to add a more intricate texture. What are some of your favorite 3-D stamps? Let us know in the comments below!
